In Transit

Submitted By: Ananya Varadarajan

She was tired of navigating the cosmos Weighed down by yesterday's sins Grimy feet and peeling nail polish Hidden in dusty canvas shoes She was wearing a dress, she wished for pants That didn't swish with every wave the universe spewed Stray threads trapping the flotsam Of regrets and shattered dreams and well, him He helped her empty the sand from her shoes She helped lighten his loads, her bags still had space She had to make an effort to hear him Over the deafening din of the universe He spouted some poetry, though not his It wasn't life-changing But it would do for when in transit
