Beneath her smile

Drenched in tears, she cried, Until her emotions flowed through her eyes. Her tear-streaked face said more than words could. What should I do with her eyes and her cheeks? Those red-rimmed eyes, those trembling cheeks. No one saw her pain behind those smiles. She was hesitant to let the tears fall, But now she lets them flow, Until she can’t keep them behind her walls, Until the hatred she held turns numb. Because she knows if she hides them, She’ll feel hopeless and break down. She knows she must let them flow. So she cries, until her heart feels light, And the pierced memories fade deep inside her.
