Roses in the Crossfire

Submitted By: Alabi Johnpaul Olamakinde

----------------------------------

He came with roses, heart open, believing love could soften the world. But love walked blind into a place ruled by violence, where kindness is mocked by the sound of a gun. A silence knelt in the dust, her head forced down, while devotion was rewritten in blood. The roses dropped with him, their red no different from the spray that carried his last breath. And I keep asking myself— when love faces power, what really survives? The flower, the bullet, or the silence that follows?
